Who we are
This website, theyorkshiresurveyingco.co.uk, is run by The Yorkshire Surveying Co, a trading name of LKD Surveying And Consulting Ltd (LKDSC) (“we”, “us”). We provide home buyer reports and property surveys in Yorkshire.
LKD Surveying And Consulting Ltd is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. Company number 14147922. Registered office: 35 Ffordd Llanllechid, Llanllechid, Bangor, Wales, LL57 3EE.
For privacy questions, email info@theyorkshiresurveyingco.co.uk, call 07821573064, or write to us at our office: Huddersfield Rd, Shelley, West Yorkshire, HD8.
What we collect
If you book a survey, ask for a quote or send an enquiry, we collect the details you submit. That typically includes your name, email address, phone number and information about the property (such as the address and the type of survey you need), plus anything else you choose to tell us.
If you pay online, your card details are entered into a secure form provided by Stripe and go directly to Stripe; we do not see or store your full card number.
When you send our booking form, it also records the pages of this website you viewed beforehand (WPForms User Journey). This helps us understand how people find the booking page.
If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics and WPMU DEV Analytics to understand how the site is used (for example pages visited, approximate location and device type). We look at this in aggregate and do not use it to identify you personally. Like most websites, our hosting and security tools also record standard technical information such as IP addresses and browser type to keep the site running and secure.
Why we use it
We use your details to respond to enquiries, provide surveys and related services, send terms of engagement, take payment where you have asked us to, and keep proper business records. Analytics helps us improve the website.
The legal bases we rely on under UK GDPR are:
- Contract: taking steps at your request before a contract, and performing a contract (for example arranging and carrying out your survey and taking payment);
- Legal obligation: keeping records we are required to keep, for example for tax and accounting;
- Legitimate interests: responding to general enquiries, and running, securing and improving the website;
- Consent: for optional analytics cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We use trusted service providers (processors) to run the website and our services. They only process data on our instructions:
- 20i: website hosting;
- Stripe: card payments, if you pay online, including fraud prevention;
- hCaptcha: spam and bot protection on our online forms;
- Google: Google Analytics (only if you accept analytics cookies);
- WPMU DEV: website analytics (only if you accept analytics cookies) and website security tools;
- our email provider: to send and receive emails, including booking confirmations.
We may also share information with professional advisers or insurers where needed, or where the law requires it.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they rely on recognised safeguards, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contract terms.
How long we keep it
Enquiry and booking records are kept for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet legal, insurance and professional record-keeping requirements, then deleted or anonymised. Analytics data is kept in line with the settings of the analytics tools and is reviewed periodically.
Unfinished bookings
If you start our Terms of Engagement form and enter an email address or phone number but don’t finish, we save what you’ve typed so far. We do this so Mandy, our bookings concierge, can help you complete your booking if you still want to. This is in our legitimate interest in providing the service you started to ask for, and we think you’d reasonably expect it.
We never send you anything automatically because of this. At most, a member of our team may send you one personal email or call to ask whether you need a hand, and nothing is sent without being checked first. We won’t add you to a mailing list or use these details for marketing.
Unfinished form details are deleted automatically 30 days after you started the form. If you’d like them deleted sooner, or don’t want us to contact you, just email mandy@theyorkshiresurveyingco.co.uk or info@theyorkshiresurveyingco.co.uk.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to processing, or to transfer it to you or another organisation (data portability). Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Some rights apply only in certain circumstances. Email us at info@theyorkshiresurveyingco.co.uk.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first, so please contact us.
Cookies and analytics
Strictly necessary cookies make the site work (for example the booking form, spam protection and secure payments). Analytics cookies (Google Analytics and WPMU DEV Analytics) help us see which pages are useful. We only use analytics cookies if you accept them in our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. You can also block cookies in your browser; the site may not work fully if you do.
Our Cookie Policy lists the cookies we use and what they do.
